Asking the Girl to Pay for the First Date

Hi.
So pretty much with every single girl I have ever dated, I've asked them to pay for the first dinner date. I guess I always felt that it would be a good way to test her manners and get a feel for how much she values money. But come to think of it, I can't find anything wrong with this either. I mean, personally, when I actually start to CARE for the girl I would pay for everything I can on her behalf because that's just the natural way things work when you like someone. But on the first date when we barely know each other, why should I jump through the contrived hoops of convention to pay for her? I mean chivalry can be great and all but being expected to pay is just somewhat illogical.

I find that white girls tend to care less and that asian girls are more likely to get offended. It's a matter of the cultural upbringing I guess. Man, I'll never forgive myself for giving in and going halfsies that one time. Argh! (Oh and there was that one time I gave her her money back cause I actually liked her enough by the end of the night hehehe)

Anyone else do this?

Likewise, her friends and family probably wouldn't be too keen on it, first impressions stick and if you can see a future with her you'll be handicapping yourself early on. Dinner dates are overrated anyways... I could name a half dozen dates that will be more memorable and cost less than ten bucks. Get creative and pick up the tab early on, if she has a great time she'll find a way to repay you ; ); ▶ Reply to This
