I find internet game very difficult. In fact most masters swear against it. The best you can do is be up front and ask to meet. I do advise listening to your instincts.

How do you get him attracted to you that you have only written with? Do you know that he is in fact NOT attracted to you yet?

Men are mostly visual, at least at first, so show him a couple of good pics. To get him to want to meet you, show him some of your personality. If you two mesh online he's more likely to want to meet you and see if you will mesh in person.

Assuming that none of you are playing games.
It is OK for you to propose a get together.
You could start chatting about food. What are his and your favorite dishes.
If you find, during the chat, that there is something you both like, ask how does he like to much that fab.
Be patient, listen, then see if he is interested in your take (look for potential selfishness).
In next e-mail you could suggest to meet (assuming he wouldn't propose first) for lunch in a place, that you know of, that serves the dish you both enjoy. Lunch gives the impression of you not being easy, but interested in finding out, in real time, if you both have the chemistry.

You must be 12. On the internet he can't sense your desperation but if you manage to meet up with him people will sense the sincerity and/or other things. First mitake was meeting people online. Peace!

Yea, attraction for a guy is primarily sparked by physical things so sparking that with just sporadic text exchanges would be kind of hard. As for getting him to meet you, why not just be straightforward and ask?
I used to flirt with girls all the time over instant messengers, and I think the internet is a pretty good medium to build comfort! My advice is to build some shallow comfort (exchanging 411-type info, getting a feel for each others' personalities, etc) via the net and then save the bulk of the attraction and deeper comfort stages for after you guys meet up face-to-face! :)
